When an unpredicted census spike occurred at Pali Momi Medical Center, located outside of Honolulu, Hawaii, hospital administrators had an immediate need for two ICU nurses with a four-day turnaround. Having previously partnered with Fastaff for urgent and hard-to-fill positions, Pali Momi was confident their request would be fulfilled by the dedicated Fastaff team. As the pioneers and industry leader in Rapid Response® travel nurse staffing solutions, Fastaff’s in-house team of experts trained for urgent response scenarios were ready to meet the facility’s needs.
Pali Momi Medical Center contacted Fastaff on a Thursday with a start date for the following Monday. Fastaff immediately began recruiting for two experienced ICU nurses who could arrive immediately, and ready to hit the ground running. In less than 24 hours, Fastaff successfully recruited the first nurse and had the second nurse confirmed by Saturday. In 48 hours from the initial request, both nurses were on a plane headed for Hawaii for a Monday start.
In order to meet Pali Momi’s urgent needs, the account management compliance team, spearheaded by client services compliance manager Kelly Clippinger, worked around the clock over the weekend to meet Fastaff’s guaranteed delivery promise.
“Through teamwork and communication, we were able to complete a 10 panel rapid drug screen for one nurse and provided photographic documentation for the second nurse,” explained Clippinger. “This met the needs of the facility and cleared both nurses to start immediately,” explained Clippinger. “Our team arranged for an onsite fitness test to be completed upon arrival to the facility for both nurses.”
Not only were the Pali Momi requests for hard-to-fill nursing specialties, but they also required a short-term assignment length of only four weeks. Unlike traditional travel agencies, Fastaff’s flexible-length assignments allow facilities to utilize nurses only when needed, rather than locking in a typical 13-week assignment length.
“Pali Momi expressed appreciation for our flexible-length assignment model, requesting the two ICU nurses for only four weeks to cover their census peak,” stated Clippinger.
Betty Wageman, executive vice president, was proud of her account management team for going the extra mile to deliver experienced nurses to the facility. “Our dedicated team of account managers worked nonstop to provide Pali Momi the urgent relief they needed in their most critical moment. I’m proud of my team and their commitment to our client’s ability to provide quality care. Our purpose is to fulfil our clients’ most urgent needs in Rapid Response® fashion. We have pioneered this rapid and flexible model, which is why we can offer a one-of-a-kind guarantee to the hospital,” states Wageman.
Fastaff’s guaranteed delivery of experienced nurses, ready to hit the ground running, solved a critical staffing shortage for a remote location in urgent need. The dedicated Fastaff team of in-house experts is committed to excellent customer service in order for facilities nationwide to provide quality patient care.
